LARGE XENON WARE KANTHAROS. Ca. 400 - 300 BC. A black-glazed pottery kantharos with a deep body tapering to a small ring foot, a tall everted rim with a rounded lip, and a pair of opposed loop handles set at the shoulder. The upper zone is decorated in added red, one side with vertical strokes, tongues and a running meander bordered by fillets above a wavy line. The other side bears a central rosette flanked by dotted tendrils, surmounted by short vertical strokes and positioned above a chevron frieze.
