LATE ATTIC RED-FIGURE LEKYTHOS WITH EROS.
Ca. 400 - 370 BC
A red-figure lekythos with an ovoid body on a ring foot, rising to a slender neck and flaring funnel mouth, with a vertical strap handle joining the shoulder to the neck. The main panel shows winged Eros striding to the left, nude and holding a taenia in his right hand and a shallow bowl in his left. The field around the handle is filled with scrolling tendrils, and directly below the handle is a large palmette with radiating fronds. The neck is decorated with a frieze of upright tongues above a band of ovolo around the shoulder.

Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired in Switzerland in the late 1980s to early 1990s.
