AD 300 - 500 A gold ring with a narrow hoop of D-section supporting a broad oval bezel plate enclosing a bloodstone intaglio engraved with a sacrificial scene showing a tall altar with flames, flanked above by a pair of confronting doves and below by opposed swans. Size: D:20.17mm / US: 10 1/2 / UK: U 1/2; Weight: 5.8g. Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Belgium; formerly in a German private collection before 2000.
