LATE ROMAN TERRACOTTA OIL LAMP WITH DOVE. Ca. AD 300 - 500. A redware oil lamp with a depiction of a bird, possibly a dove, on the discus. Two filling holes are present, and the perimeter is enriched by a decorative pattern. A central channel extends from the handle to the top of the flat nozzle. The base is defined by a ridge, with an additional ridge leading to the handle, and two thin concentric circles situated in the centre. For similar see: The Ashmolean Museum, Accession no.
