Havana half-maroquin with corners, spine ribbed, gilt head, untrimmed, cover preserved, slipcase (Semet et Plumelle). First edition with cover and title dated 1874. The work had been published in Paris by Lacroix et Verboeckhoven in 1869 but had not been sold. The edition was bought back almost in its entirety by the Brussels bookseller Jean-Baptiste Rozez, who offered it for sale in 1874 with a false title, a reprinted title and a new cover. A very fine copy bound by Semet et Plumelle.
