LE CORBUSIER (Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris, known as)
Procession.
In-plano (71 x 103 cm), on ff. in illustrated beige linen box.
Portfolio of 13 lithographs, including seven in colour by Le Corbusier.
The six compositions were produced by le Corbusier in 1960 in Chandigarh. In 1947, following India's independence, Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru launched a project to build a new city, Chandigarh. Le Corbusier was commissioned to plan the city, while Pierre Jeanneret (Le Corbusier's cousin), Maxwell Fry and Jane Drew were responsible for the buildings. It was during one of his many trips to India that Le Corbusier drew up Cortège. A culmination of Le Corbusier's work, the flat areas of colour are reminiscent of the use of collage characteristic of his later creations.
Limited edition of 50 numbered copies on BFK Rives vellum paper (no. 5).
Good condition. A few tiny stains and rubbing on the box. Five lithographs sunned. Tiny stains on one of the lithographs in the margin.
