Zt. over 5 bindings with span. Edges, spine with autograph title (stained, spine somewhat discoloured). Second edition, also the first printed in Germany. - Krivatsy 6805 - Thorndike VIII, 286 - Antoine Le Grand, an important advocate of Descartes, deals in this work in 9 sections with the four elements, minerals, meteors, flora, fauna and mankind. - Provenance: Rudolph Graf von Abensperg und Traun, Austrian aristocracy, with his stamped monogr. on the title page and owner's note in ink on the front cover. Owner's note in ink on the front pastedown. - Some waterstaining and foxing, altogether a sound copy with the attractive allegorical frontispiece. Second edition, in the same time the first printed in Germany. - Krivatsy 6805 - Antoine Le Grand, an important advocate of Descartes, deals in this work in 9 sections with the four elements, minerals, meteors, flora, fauna and mankind. - Thorndike: "... it was deemed worthy of notice both in Philosophical Transactions and the Journal des Scavans. (Thorndike VIII, 286) - Provenance: Rudolph Graf von Abensperg und Traun, Austrian aristocracy, with his owner's remark in ink on front paste-downs and his monogram stamp on the title-page. - Some water-staining and foxing, altogether a sound copy with the attractive allegorical frontispiece.
