THE "MASSACRE OF THE FRENCH" IN MANSOURA Bonaparte (Napoleon). Letter signed "Bonaparte" as General-in-Chief of the Army of the East to General Charles-François-Joseph Dugua. Cairo, 5 fructidor an VI [22 August 1798]. One p. in-8 oblong; tear with lack restored without affecting the text. "The cadi of Mansoura [between Cairo and Damiette] who had come here to plead the cause of the inhabitants of this town, returns to Mansoura. He claims that the inhabitants are not guilty of the massacre of the French [on 10 August 1798]. Check the facts and if they are true, give him the protection he deserves...".
