This excellent history of the town of Soissons, from the Gallic princes to the year 980, is dedicated to the Dauphin, the future King Louis XVI.
A copy bearing the arms of Louis III Phélypeaux (1705-1777), Comte de Saint-Florentin and Duc de La Vrillière, whose ministerial career under the reign of Louis XV lasted almost half a century: he was entrusted with the portfolio of the so-called Reformed Religion from 1725 and was in charge of that of the King's Household from 1749 to 1775.
Corners dulled, light wetness at end of volume. The title finial has been coloured.
