Hunting rest, France, circa 1750. Folded fan, the skin sheet lined with paper, painted with gouache of a female hunter resting, surrounded by her retinue. Beautiful border of feathers enhanced with gold. On the reverse, a sketch of peasants and a figure walking. The ivory (elephantidae spp.) frame is pierced, carved, engraved and painted with a couple in a central cartel surrounded by flowers and medallions. (Cuts, restorations.) Height 26.8 cm; leaf height: 12 cm. In a box bearing the address of the Maison Brasseur in Paris on the lid. *An ivory specimen of Elephantidae spp (I/A) pre-Convention, prior to 1 July 1947 and therefore in conformity with EC Regulation 338/97 of 09/12/1996 art.2-Wmc, and prior to 1 July 1975 and therefore in conformity with the French decrees of 4 May 2017 and January 2022.
