THE SACRE OF NAPOLEON I Entrance ticket to Notre-Dame for the ceremonies of 2 December 1804 In strong paper, with cut sides, with the imperial coat of arms on one side marked "NAPOLEON I EMPEROR OF THE FRENCH PEOPLE" and, on the back, "Cérémonie du Sacre et Couronnement", "Président d'Assemblée de Canton". 65 x 90 mm A.B.E First Empire period. Provenance : Former Napoleonic collection of the Prince's Palace of Monaco (3rd sale, lot 208) An entry ticket for Napoleon's coronation at Notre Dame Commentary: The presidents of the canton assemblies, local relays of the action of the new emperor, had to wear the French habit in velvet, silk or cloth, the same breeches, leaving the colours to the will of each, as well as the French hat, with three horns, which had to include a black plume.
