Francis Jammes prefaces this work, which is a collection of anecdotes and ethnographic, aesthetic and historical considerations about the Basque country. It includes a short history of bullfighting in Bayonne, chapters on the villages of Fontarabie, Aïnhoa and Urdax, on the typical features of Basque chapels, hermitages and houses, and on the remarkable conservation work of the Basque Museum in Bayonne.
