[LEBEY André (1877-1938). Les Quatre miroirs et les trois morts, Contes. Sans lieu, September 1894; manuscript of 24 ff. written on one side only, in-4 white half vellum with corners, smooth spine. Early manuscript of these strange tales, specially calligraphed on Japanese paper: "These tales are copied for my friend Pierre Louÿs and dedicated to him". The manuscript, which is only slightly crossed out, bears the dates 15, 16 and 17 September 1894, i.e. a year before Lebey published his first work entitled La Scène and at a time when Pierre Louÿs's reputation was being built up. A handwritten note indicates a binder's error in the organisation of the leaves. We have been unable to find any trace of publication of this text, which was intended to be dedicated to Louÿs and still appears to be unpublished. Spotting on the back of the binding.
