Théodore Eloi Lebreton (1803-1883), poet and biographer from Rouen, member of several learned societies, employed at the Rouen Library (specifically in charge of the Leber Library). In 1848, he was appointed representative for Seine-Inférieure and sat on the Constituent Assembly. For the first few years of his life, he worked in an Indian factory. He was the author of several collections of poetry and a large number of detached verse pieces written for various occasions.
Portrait on the frontispiece and several illustrations engraved on a tinted background outside the text. One of the copies with the plates printed on Chine and the fleurons printed in colour and gold. E.A.S. from the author to the brother Depeaux (Félix, célestin, 1815-1891). A few small brown spots.
