LEMANIA GOLIATH, RATRAPANTE CHRONOMETER, R.L.M. REICHSLUFTFAHRTMINISTERIUM, WW2 GERMAN AVIATION POCKET WATCH, GERMANY 1940
The Reichsluftfahrtministerium, or RLM (German: Reich Ministry of Aviation), was a government department during the period of Nazi Germany (1933-45). It is also the original name of a building on Wilhelmstraße in the Mitte district of Berlin, the capital of Germany, which now houses the German Ministry of Finance.
The Ministry of Aviation was in charge of aircraft development and production, mainly for the Luftwaffe, the German Air Force. As was characteristic of government departments in the Nazi era, the formal procedure of ministry appointments was often ignored in favour of the whims of the minister, Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring. The development of its functions and the aircraft that were consequently to equip the Luftwaffe progressed slowly and unevenly throughout the Second World War.
