Leopold II, Emperor of the Romans, Europe, circa 1790-1792.
Folded fan, the silk sheet decorated with a central portrait, engraved on paper, and enhanced, of Peter Leopold of Habsburg-Lorraine (1747-1792), in coronation costume, the crown of Saint Stephen in the background. He became Emperor of the Romans under the name of Leopold II, King of Hungary, King of Bohemia and Archduke of Austria.
On either side is a royal crown resting on a cushion. On the left is that of Saint Stephen for the Kingdom of Hungary and on the right is that of Wenceslas for the Kingdom of Bohemia.
The reverse is mute.
Mounted in finely pierced bone. The plumes are pierced and engraved with the imperial eagle holding a sword in one claw and the globe in the other. Below, in a medallion, the letters "LS".
