Léopold Louis Robert (1794 Les Eplatures/Canton Neuchâtel - 1835 Venice) after "L'arrivée des moissonneurs dans les marais Pontins". Original title 19th century copy after the famous work by Robert created in 1830, which he showed with triumphant success at the Salon in Paris in 1831, where it was acquired by King Louis Philippe and has been in the Louvre since 1835. Trained by Jacques-Louis David in Paris from 1810-1816, the painter went to Rome in 1818. There he was the first artist to paint directly the folk life of the Italian rural population and became the "founder of the Italian morality painting" (Thieme-Becker), through which he achieved European fame. Oil on canvas; monogr. "CA" with crown on a sack of the loaded wagon. 81 cm x 130 cm. After Léopold Louis Robert (1794 - 1835). 19th century copy after the well-known painting from 1830 (since 1835 in the Louvre Museum in Paris). Oil on canvas. Monogrammed "CA" with crown.
