LEPAGE, Harquebusier of the King in Paris. Single-shot hunting rifle cal. 17 mm with percussion and rifled barrel tilting laterally engraved "Le Page à Paris" and maintained by a kind of grenadière out of brass with double band and sliding allowing the rocking, round barrel then octagonal with the thunder engraved of foliage numbered 008, tenon of bayonet side, The unchased upper side is engraved in fine gold with "Le Page ARQer Du Roi", planked frog, chased hammer fixed on a piece of metal inlaid in the grip of the stock, gilded rear sight and grenadier with chased rim, trigger guard also chased with scrolls, burr walnut stock, plain butt plate. Overall length: 98.5 cm, barrel length: 59.5 cm. Restoration period. FAIR CONDITION This rifle, although only signed Lepage, is a typical example of the many technical innovations of Jean Lepage, who, in collaboration with Casimir Perrin, developed the tilting system of the barrel, locked by a lever placed underneath.
