Each clip features a round brilliant-cut diamond weighing approx. 0.50 ct and three marquise-cut diamonds weighing approx. 0.30 ct each, as well as two leaf shapes in perfectly calibrated baguette-cut diamonds. This pair of high jewellery earrings contains a total of approx. 5 ct. of diamonds. Very beautiful and beautifully finished. Clip flap at the back of the ear probably in 9k (375 thousandths). Height: 2.6 cm. Gross weight: 10.8 g. The creation period of baguette-cut diamonds is unknown to us, although sketches of them can be found on 16th-century double-table-cut jewellery. The popularity of jewellery adorned with baguette-cut diamonds has gone through several phases in the history of jewellery. During the 1920s, the emblematic period of Art Deco, this style of cut reached its apogee because of its aesthetic and sophisticated geometry, which corresponded perfectly to the artistic and cultural trends of the time. Subsequently, this style of cutting made a timid resurgence in the 1950s, mainly in brooches and clips, before enjoying a revival in the early 2000s, facilitating modern, refined and minimalist designs. One of the essential characteristics of baguette-cut diamonds is their purity! A very fine baguette with inclusions on a polishing wheel is very likely to shatter. Purity is one of the prerequisites for cutting this shape.
