Lot no. 308
ALSATIAN YEAST - THE STAMP - Rare domed enamelled plaque circa 1930. Very good colour, nice shine, chips at the corners and on the image. Enamel: "émaillerie Alsacienne de Strasbourg". 29.8 x 19.6 cm. In 1897, Emile Moench founded the company alsa and moved to Nancy. His wife, Elisabeth, an energetic and hard-working woman, dreamt one day of an Alsatian woman wearing a bonnet and standing next to a stork. That's when it all clicked, and from then on the pink bags took on an Alsatian woman as their emblem. (Source: alsa.fr)
