LOT NOTES Beijing artist Li Guijun is known for his exploration of the dynamics of women in a photo realistic fashion. He painted adolescent girls exclusively for almost twenty years, and the one presented at the auction is among the artist`s early works that he created at the time of graduation from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing in 1988. The work comes from the estate of Milton Gelfand, a successful businessman, who traveled extensively around communist China during the Sino-U.S. rapprochement in the 1970-90s and built an impressive art collection mainly comprised of contemporary Chinese paintings and sculpture.
