LICINIO BARZANTI Forli' 1857 - 1944 Shoots of roses Signed L Barzanti bottom centre Oil on canvas, 110X145 cm Barzanti studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence and came into contact with the coeval currents, post-macchiaiola and naturalist. The painting depicts an imposing floral composition, a still life composed of rose shoots, free in their composition and disruptive in their plasticity given by the play of light that illuminates the flowers and leaves with many shades, in strong chromatic contrast with the light and bright background. His works appeared at the London Exhibition of 1888, the Genoa Exhibition of 1892 and the Florence Exhibition of 1904. He was also highly appreciated in Russia, a solo exhibition of his work was presented at the Galleria Micheli in Milan in 1931.
