"Lierre" vase or bowl by Gabriel Argy Rousseau Deep bell shape. Pâte de verre, colourless and in autumnal shades (cream, orange, red, brown and purple), mould-melted. Stylised, relief decoration of leaves and ripe berries, probably of the common ivy (Hedera helix), repeated three times on the wall. Designed by Gabriel Argy-Rousseau, 1919, signed "G. ARGY-ROUSSEAU", marked "FRANCE" on the base. H. 8.8 cm. Cf. Janine Bloch-Dermant and Yves Delaborde: "Gabriel Argy-Rousseau", no. 19.02. Due to the decoration, which can also be interpreted as elderberries and leaves (Sambucus nigra), the object is sometimes also labelled "Sureau" for elderberry.
