Interesting register of commercial correspondence.
Jean-Baptiste, in partnership with his sister-in-law, ran his business under the name Jean-Baptiste Flamen-Vanlerberghe. This register records correspondence from 26 July 1754 to 19 April 1756; it is supplemented by 48 loose leaves inserted at the end of the volume, from 28 December 1761 to 16 July 1763.
He traded mainly with Spain, with correspondents and commission agents in Bayonne (Maisonnave, Daguerre...), Dunkirk (Woestyn), Bordeaux (Boucherie...), Paris and Amsterdam (Demesquita); but he also had contacts in many other European cities. In Spain, he traded mainly with Seville, Valencia, Alicante, Zaragoza, Pamplona, Barcelona and Madrid, exporting mainly canvas and leather. The letters give the names of the transport ships, the numbers of the bales and their value, etc.
