US paratrooper's name liner, in high pressure composite material with manufacture no longer legible. The two snap fasteners typical of parachute models are present. The canvas cap is complete but badly worn. The leather chinstrap is dry and brittle. The neck strap is missing. The OD canvas straps are complete with buckles. OD canvas chinstrap has four adjustment eyelets. Partially illegible name inscription on cap, Isadore Jackmann, a German Jew, who became an American and was killed in the sector. He belonged to Company B of the 513th PIR of the 17th Airborne. The khaki exterior paint is sixty percent preserved. There is some wear and patina to the piece. condition II+. According to the seller's information, this liner came from Famierge, Mande Saint Etienne, found on the Degros farm through the neighbour, the garage owner DABE. The American 17th Airborne Division was actively engaged in the Flamierge area, in the immediate vicinity of Famierge, from 4 January 1945. This division carried out attacks northwards towards the Bastogne-Marche road (N4), encountering fierce German resistance. The Flamierge sector, nicknamed Dead Man's Ridge by the soldiers, was the scene of particularly deadly fighting. The 507th Parachute Infantry Battalion was also involved in the fighting in the region. This battalion took part in crucial defensive and offensive missions, including holding strategic positions against mechanised German units. The canvas suspension is complete but heavily worn. The leather chinstrap is dry and brittle. The neck strap is missing. The OD canvas Ayoke straps are intact, with closure buckles present. The OD web chin cup features four adjustment eyelets. A partially legible name marking, Isadore Jackmann, is visible on the suspension-identified as a German Jew who became an American and was killed in the area. The exterior khaki paint is approximately sixty percent intact. The piece shows notable wear and a pronounced patina. Condition rated as II+. According to the seller, this liner was found in Famierge, Mande Saint Etienne, in the Degros farm through a neighbor, mechanic DABE.
