Paris, self-published by the artist, 1928. 4°. X, 1 p., pp. 13-154, 3 vols. Black full marocco on five bands with gilt-stamped title, fillets on standing edges, splendid art deco decoration, the inside covers with inlay work in red and green marocco and ornamental gilding (sign. Flammarion), the endpapers in green silk moiré and on the reverse with hand-finished multicoloured marbled paper, gilt edges at head. Marbled paper, gilt top edge. Carteret IV, 243. Monod 7263 - One of 40 copies numbered by hand and signed by Henri Le Riche on Japon nacré (GA 210). This copy with a signed and bound drawing by the artist in graphite and watercolour. The etchings of the extra suite each pre-bound to the one used in the book, uncoloured but with large remarques. - The French painter, sculptor and graphic artist Henri le Riche (1868-1944) was awarded the prestigious "Prix de Rome" in 1888 and won the silver medal at the Paris Salon in 1922. - Graceful interpretation of the late antique romance novel on the finest japon nacré. - Spine broken in places at the front hinge, somewhat rubbed at the corners and capitals, otherwise a well-preserved copy, the burnished etchings with a delicate plate tone.
