LORENZO DELLEANI Pollone, 1840 - Turin, 1908 (attr. to) River landscape, Fortress towards Marengo Dated 20-5-88 lower right Oil on panel, 25X36.5 cm Lorenzo Delleani drew the subjects and suggestions for his vast artistic production from the pivotal places of his life: the green countryside around Biella and the vegetation of the Cuneo area, which thus constitute the main subjects of his paintings. Around 1880, a transformation of the artist's painting style can be seen, both from a stylistic and technical point of view and in terms of the subjects depicted. In fact, Delleani concentrated on landscapes, with a focus on everyday reality. And it was Impressionism that gave new means of expression to the artist, who dedicated himself in these years to painting en plein air: the landscapes of Piedmont, already among Delleani's favourite depictions, were thus revised in the light of the new French movement.
