Small in-8 of [8], 403, [1] ff, red morocco, floral medallion gilt in the centre, spine decorated, blue morocco lining decorated with three fillets and a floral garland gilt, double comb endpapers, edges gilt (Cuzin - Maillard gilt). First edition in round letters of the most famous of medieval novels. This edition, "rare in fine condition and much sought after" (Brunet), corresponds in text to the edition published by Galliot du Pré in 1526, revised by Clément Marot and containing for the first time the Exposition moralle du Rommant de la Rose generally attributed to the poet. It is decorated with 51 woodcut vignettes in the text, with repetitions. The first appears on the title, which is printed in red and black. The last leaf bears the mark of Galliot du Pré.
