Very rare album illustrated with 13 copper-engraved and watercoloured hors-texte views by Lory (père), Lafond and Zehender.
The text, which serves as an introduction for artists and lovers of picturesque travel, is attributed to Dean Bridel, while the preface is by Zehender. The plates are commented on by Wyttenbach. The views show : 1 - Lake Brientz and the small lake at Goldswil, 2 - Giessbach Falls, 3 - Dorf and Alpbach Falls at Meyringen, 4 - View of the Oberhasli Valley, 5 - Wandelbach Falls, 6 - Upper Reichenbach Falls, 7 - The port of Fluhelen in the canton of Uri, 8 - Burgle, birthplace of William Tell, 9 - Staeg near Twing Uri, on the road to St Gotthardt, 10 - Devil's Bridge, 11 - View of Brounnen and part of Lake Lucerne, 12 - Schweiz, capital of the canton, 13 - View of the Isle of Schwanau on Lake Lowerz.
The plate with the 9 black miniature views is missing. Creases on the Devil's Bridge plate.
Simon Daniel Lafond (Bern 1763-1831) was a Swiss landscape painter and engraver, a pupil of Sigmund Freudenberger.
Karl Ludwig Zehender (Bonmont 1751 - Bern 1814) was a Swiss landscape painter and portrait painter.
