LOT COMPRISING TWO FOUR-PIECE BELT BUCKLES WITH SILVER INLAYS - former Kofler-Truniger collection Suisse romande / Eastern France, Merovingian, late 7th century AD. Metal with silver inlays and round bronze appliqués. Decoration in the form of intricately intertwined braided bands. L 28 cm, W 8 cm and L 22 cm, W 6 cm. Heavily corroded. Silver inlays partially lost. Bronze applications with losses and cracks. Provenance: - Collection of Ernst and Marthe Kofler-Truniger (1918–1999 & 1918–1999), Lucerne before 1964 (inv. no. K8060C & K8060G). - Swiss private collection, Lucerne, acquired from the above in ca. 1974. - By inheritance in the same Swiss family collection, Lucerne.
