The LOTOS jewellery firm was founded in 1872 by Philipp Döppenschmitt in Pforzheim, Germany, at a time when there were almost 8,000 jewellery craftsmen in a town of around 22,000 souls. In the 1930s/1940s, fine Art Deco bracelets were all the rage, but Pforzheim was a city of innovation and Lotos launched a jewellery production mainly using very important natural stones. Heliodore is one of them. A member of the beryl family, it is closely related to aquamarine, emerald and morganite.
