Lot no. 481
"Lotus flower". Original title. Majolica, white pewter glaze. On a rectangular plinth, almost life-size depiction of a standing young woman with artfully braided hair, apparently bathing, dressed in a short skirt and a tank top revealing her belly. She is looking down to the left towards an imaginary body of water, her right leg resting on a stylised golden lotus bud, holding a golden ball in her right hand behind her back, a falling cloth draped over her arm. Polychrome inglaze painting, lotus bud and ball gilded. Unique, the 2016 model by the Munich sculptor Chaya Nouriani (born 1968 in Münster) after an original design by Karl Himmelstoß for the art department of the Rosenthal porcelain factory from 1922 (model no. 3.0427). Nouriani changed the elongated octagonal plinth of the small porcelain statuette to a higher, rectangular one and the skirt to a version without a belly. Nymphenburg manufactory mark (coat of arms shield with diamonds) impressed on the top of the plinth. H. 164 cm.
