LOT CONSISTING OF TWO CLOCKS: A GILDED BRONZE POETRY-THEMED PENDULUM CLOCK, FRANCE CIRCA 1860 AND A PENDULUM CLOCK WITH PORCELAIN PLATES, FRANCE CIRCA 1870 Standing clock in historicist style with a figure of a poet laureate supporting himself on a historiated column. The monumental alabaster structure, secured by gilded bronze garnishes, is supported by large curved feet. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, metal hands (minute hand missing), 15-day movement with hour and half-hour strike on bell, with part-wheel, modified metal suspension. Pendulum and winding key missing. H 49 cm, W 36 cm, D 14 cm. The second clock: Large clock with monumental structure supported on a mixtilinear base resting on perlinate feet. Two corbels, decorated with deep blue polychrome porcelain plates, embrace the machine, surmounted by festoons, bows and a cameo, also centred by a porcelain plate. Polychrome enamel dial, gilt metal hands, 15-day movement with hour and half-hour strike on bell. Watch to be overhauled, winding key and pendulum absent.
