Louis Finson (Bruges 1570/78 - Amsterdam 1617), attributed to Christ and the Adulteress, circa 1610, oil on canvas, 125 x 177 cm. The subject is taken from the Gospel of John (8, 1-11) and takes place in the presence of, among others, the scribes and Pharisees. This painting should be seen in relation to the works produced by Louis Finson during his stay in Naples (c. 1605 - 1612), in particular Judith and Holofernes, 1607 (Naples, Intesa San Paolo Collection) and David and Goliath, signed, private collection (on these works, see Giuditta decapita Oloferne.
