Acquired by the present owner in 1990 from the Robert Mikaeloff Gallery. Our painting was given to Willem van Aelst (1627-1683) in the 20th century (Certificate by Walter Berndt dated 30 May 1975), then attributed to Louis Michiel by Fred G. Meijer in 2008. It can be compared with Louis Michiel's "Nature Morte signée", dated 1680 and now in the Gemäldegalerie der Akkademie in Vienna (Inv. Nr 703). Our painting is listed in the R.K.D (Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie) under permalink n° 55941, as "attributed to Louis Michiel".
