Lot no. 568
Louis SOUTTER (1871-1942), "Allah Allah", Indian ink on lined paper. Between 1923 and 1930. Titled on the back "Allah Allah".
H. 22 x 17.8 cm
In the depths of his white, lined or squared school notebooks, Soutter developed a series of religious buildings: mosques, Orthodox churches and synagogues, whose squares and façades he enlivened with his violinist's rhythmic, vibrating strokes, typical of his musical practice. He continued to play and teach the violin throughout the 1920s, a period marked by the blossoming of his pictorial work.
