H. 22 x 17.5 cm In his notebooks, Soutter produced a series of drawings that questioned the history of his time, particularly the advent of Sovietism, which emerged a few years before he began his notebook drawings. In this drawing, the artist chose to represent Sovietism in the form of a fresco of figures in bas-relief. He adds a commentary that clarifies his critical point of view, drawing a parallel between Soviet power and that of the Roman emperors.
