Louis XVI cylinder bureau with rich inlaid walnut decoration, veneered and rich marquetry of various, partially coloured and fire-shaded precious woods such as maple and boxwood. Straight, rectangular body on fluted, canted legs. In the articulated front, a segment-shaped knee compartment with recessed drawer, surrounded by five drawers of different sizes, some of which are optically connected. Pull-out work surface with cambered cylinder lock. Profiled top with open-worked gallery framing. Full-length veneer panels with inlaid vase motifs, scrolled volutes and festoons, bordered by band inlays. In the centre, a large reserve with an all-over depiction of large cornucopias, a fama and lavish drapery as a symbol of glory, flanked by stylised city views. Inside old, red ornamented paper lining. H. 121 cm. 124 cm x 62 cm.
