The fourth edition, published one year after the original, is extremely rare. Louise Labé's Œuvres appeared for the first time in Lyon with Jean de Tournes in 1555 and was followed the next year by a reprint with the same publisher, with the few errors of the original corrected. The same year also saw the publication of an edition that Brunet describes as a forgery and which is missing an ode in Greek. The edition we are presenting appeared in Rouen, also in 1556. According to Brunet, it is no less rare than the 1555 edition, of which it appears to be a copy. All these editions are very rare. Three editions of Louise Charly's works, printed during her lifetime, are so rare that they can be considered unobtainable (Viollet-Le-Duc). This work consists of the Debat de Folie et d'Amour, a prose dialogue printed in round letters involving Love, Folly, Jupiter, Apollo, Venus and Mercury. The Debate is followed by Elegies and Sonnets printed in italics and a final part entitled Escriz de divers poëtes, à la louenge de Loyse Labé Lionnoize, which contains various pieces in Greek, Latin, French and Italian.
