Ludwig Wilhelm Wichmann (1788 Potsdam - 1859 Berlin) "Water scoop". Original title Large bronze, patinated in various shades of brown. Posthumous, contemporary 20th/21st century cast; depiction of a girl with a water jug on an oval plinth. Wichmann studied under Johann Gottfried Schadow from 1800 and worked in Paris from 1809-1813. After his return to Berlin, Wichmann again worked in Schadow's studio. In 1821, he founded his own sculptor's studio, where he carried out commissions for K. F. Schinkel, among others. The statue of his "Wasserschöpferin", which was later cast in bronze by Lauchhammer, was first exhibited by Wichmann in 1840 with great success at the Berlin Academy Exhibition; in 1843 the sculpture, praised by Schadow as a "graceful" and "most lovely appearance", was awarded the great gold medal in Paris. H. approx. 147 cm. A large brown and dark patinated bronze. Posthumous cast 20th/21st C.
