Maaskamp, s.d. [1824]. In-4 oblong, green morocco half-basin, brown percaline boards, large gilt fleuron in the centre, smooth threaded spine, modern slipcase (Binding of the period). Extremely rare collection of 78 beautiful aquatint plates coloured by Maaskamp, Van der Meulen, Bendorp, A. Lutz, Van Hove, W. van Senus, etc., depicting picturesque views and scenes of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Zaandam, The Hague, Haarlem, Delft, etc. The collation varies from one copy to another. The collation varies from copy to copy, but the printed table which opens the volume lists only 64 plates. Plates nos. 42, 50, 56 and 57 are not included in this copy, which does include 18 additional plates not listed in the table, including the 8 additional plates described by Landwehr. The proofs before the letter were captioned at the time in Dutch and French in pen and almost all the plates in English in pencil. The table of plates has been completed in a contemporary hand. Binding worn, top cover missing, plate no. 31 stained, some soiling and marginal foxing. Landwehr, Dutch books with coloured plates, n°452.
