April 1947 von den vier Photographen Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, David "Chim" Seymour und Georges Rodger in New York City gegründet. Die Agentur ist weltbekannt, ist mit Büros in New York, Paris, London und Tokio vertreten und die rar gesäte und elitäre Mitgliedschaft gilt heutzutage als höchste Auszeichnung für einen Photographen. Anlässlich des 60. Geburtstags der Agentur veröffentlichte die namhafte Galeristin und Photospezialistin Esther Woerdehoff in Zusammenarbeit mit Magnum Photo Paris das hier vorliegende Portfolio. Die Bilder entsprechen der persönlichen Auswahl der Galeristin. Die Aufnahmen sind zum Teil weltberühmt, gehören zu den Besten der Agentur und zählen zu Ikonen der Photographie, die deren Geschichte massgeblich geprägt haben.
