It includes a complete set of proofs of Norman Mailer's text (not illustrated), a 2-page notice from the author entitled A word about this book by Norman Mailer, a publicity print of a photograph by Milton H. Greene, and a photocopied note from the publisher announcing: "This press kit is being sent to you in lieu of galleys...". The set of proofs and the author's note are signed by Norman Mailer. Truman Capote's copy, with his sales stamp and a letter addressed to him by Michael Korda, writer and editor-in-chief at Simon & Schuster. The set is preserved in an elegant box by Julie Nadot featuring the cover illustration by Milton H. Greene. Attached is a copy of the first paperback edition of the book, published by Tor Books, New York, in 1981.
