MAIOLICA ISTORIATO PLATE - The Embden Collection
Venice, workshop of Maestro Domenego, ca. 1560–70.
Smooth, slightly bevelled shape. Painted with a household guardian spirit as a naked boy holding a burning torch aloft and a staff in his hand, his head covered with a cloth, in front of a lake landscape with buildings. Yellow rim line.
Ø 24.5 cm.
Rim chipped.

The Arlette and Antony Embden Collection, France.
