MAIOLICA ISTORIATO "SCODELLA" - The Embden Collection Probably Venice (or Urbino), ca. 1560. The deep, protruding shape is painted green, ocher, yellow, and blue with a mythological scene from Ovid's Metamorphoses, Diana and Callisto. The compact depiction shows the Goddess of the Hunt, Diana, on the right edge of the picture, into whose figure Jupiter transforms himself in order to seduce her companion Callisto, who is later transformed into a bear by Jupiter's jealous wife Juno. Ocher-yellow border and line borders on the back. Ø 30 cm. Chipped rim.
