MAISON ODIOT PREVOST & Cie Large oval-shaped silver centrepiece with caryatids. The oval-shaped base is adorned with friezes of palmettes on the edges and has an applique decoration of Bacchus faces set in wreaths of laurel alternating with horns of plenty. It is crowned by two figures of women draped in the antique style and leaning on either side of a baluster-shaped hearth adorned with gadrooned friezes and plant motifs. Arms raised, they support the basket decorated with interlacing motifs. Hallmarked Minerve and master goldsmith: Maison Odiot (Gustave Odiot, Emile Prévost and Paul Edouard Récipon, registered between 1894 and 1906). Signed Mon ODIOT PRÉVOST & Cie and numbered 7778. Height : 54 cm Weight : 5 900 g. (wear and scratches, as is) With its original silver-plated lining for the basket, from the same firm (one ring is loose). With its original box in fairly good condition (the key is missing)
