Master silversmith : Charles-Joseph BIS, received in 1723. DOUAI 1753 - 1754 - JURIDICTION OF LILLE and a pair of bobèches. Pair of embossed silver torches, decorated in relief and chased: "The hexagonal foot is formed of three broad sides with three small sides like the shaft and the binnacle. The foot is decorated with a frieze of flowers and a faun mask in relief, and the shaft and socket are decorated with gadroons, flowers and shells". In Madame Nicole CARTIER's book "Les orfèvres de Douai", on page 275, there is an identical pair of torches by the same master silversmith dating from 1754 - 1755, kept at the Château de Laarne, Château de Laarne, coll. D'Allemagne. It is of the same height, the weight is not indicated. Weight: 1120 g - height: 26.5 cm. Stamped on the reverse and four times on the outer sides of the binnacle with the letter date.
