Handwritten inscriptions and notes on back of postcards and sleeve. Despite the publication details on the cover, the edition was not published in Russia. It was probably produced much later by the artist's son in Germany, in a limited edition. Elena Konstantinovna Luksch-Makovskaya (1878-1967) was a Russian-born artist, sculptor and graphic designer, the daughter of the artist Konstantin Makovsky. She took German nationality, worked in Germany and took an active part in Russian exhibitions. Notable works include 'Adolescence', the sculpture 'The Fate of a Woman' and the series of postcards 'Russian Proverbs in Illustration'.
