MAMLUK POTTERY FRAGMENTS
Egypt, Ca. 15th Century AD
A pair of pottery bowl fragments. The first fragment features a splayed foot and a wide flaring rim, incised through a mustard slip and embellished in manganese brown. The central roundel displays the Cupbearer's Arms, while the rim is adorned with a band of inscription interspersed with shield motifs. The second fragment features a rounded form resting on a tall foot, incised through a green ground and embellished with manganese purple. This bowl also has a central roundel surrounded by radiating lines, with the panels between featuring circle and diamond motifs.
