MAN RAY and Paul ELUARD. Les Mains libres. Paris, Éditions Jeanne Bucher, 1937. In-4, bradel boards and spine decorated with the repeated photograph of Paul Eluard and Man Ray silk-screen printed on white, green and blue morocco, the same in negative on a red imitation lizard background, cover and spine preserved, in ivory half morocco folder with band and flaps repeating the mosaic assembly, with title, grey long-grain imitation morocco endpapers and back covers, slipcase of the same paper and lined (Daniel Mercher). First edition of Éluard's poems, composed to "illustrate" the 54 drawings by Man Ray; followed by a set of portraits and details by Man Ray. Edition of 675 copies. One of 650 on chester vergé after 25 on japon impérial; this one, signed by Man Ray and Paul Eluard, is printed for Dr. Henri Laugier. Physiologist, Resistance fighter and then senior civil servant, he took part in drafting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, created the WHO and was a member of UNESCO.
